Bauer Media Audio Ireland (BMAI) has appointed Nathan Murphy to the role of Managing Editor at Today FM, where he will lead the audience growth strategy for the biggest commercial radio station in Ireland.
Already a key figure in Bauer Media Audio Ireland, Nathan began his career as a sports reporter in Today FM in 2006, before moving to Off The Ball where he held the position of Deputy Editor and Head of Content as well as being one of the best-known voices in sport in Ireland.
Nathan has been at the centre of Off The Ball’s significant growth on radio, digital audio and video and now brings this experience to national radio, where his passion for quality content production and knowledge of Irish audiences positions him to lead the growth ambitions at Today FM.
Ireland’s number one independent radio station, Today FM is home to some of the country’s biggest personalities including Ian Dempsey, Matt Cooper and Louise Cantillon, and entertains an audience of over 900,000 (928,000) every week. Today FM has just wrapped a summer of large scale music and entertainment campaigns including a huge Oasis FM promotion and the Today FM Sound Garden at Electric Picnic where presenters took to the stage to perform in front of thousands of people across the weekend.
On his appointment, Nathan Murphy said: “I’m incredibly proud to have the opportunity to return to Today FM and lead such a brilliantly talented and creative team. I’ve remained an avid listener over the past decade and look forward to building on Today FM’s unique connection with Irish radio listeners, to enhance our position in the market”.
Commenting on today’s announcement, Bauer Media Audio Ireland CEO, Chris Doyle said: “I’m delighted to appoint someone of Nathan’s calibre to Today FM. His breadth of experience, coupled with his innate understanding of Irish audience and his ability to identify and nurture talent are key attributes he brings to this important role.
