Thursday, 6th November: Today’s JNLR results announced that 3,481,000 people now listen to radio every weekday, growing by 59,000, 79% listeners compared to the same 12-month period previously (Oct ‘24 to Sep ‘25 ). That is of the entire adult population tuning into a radio station every day.

Today FM now entertains a weekly audience of 930,000 listeners as it continues to be Ireland’s most listened to commercial radio station. Today FM also saw its daily listenership exceed the half million mark to 503,000 as well as a sizeable jump in market share to 8.8%. These impressive figures come off the back of Today FM being crowned National Station of the Year at the recent IMRO Radio Awards.

The Ian Dempsey Breakfast Show (06:00-09:00), tops the radio polls as the most listened to show on commercial radio, with a whopping audience figure of 218,000 listeners (+5,000 BoB). Ian Dempsey and his team also brought home gold in the Entertainment Inserts category at the recent IMRO radio awards for the iconic Gift Grub.

Commenting on today’s results, Ian Dempsey said:

“It’s fantastic to see we’re continuing to welcome new early birds to our show each morning. Each day we strive to start people’s days off with plenty of laughs and really set them up for the day whatever it may hold for them. Thanks for listening! ”

Dave Moore on Today FM (09:00-12:00) continues the growth trend as he increases his mid-morning audience to  204,000 listeners (+6,000 BoB). Today’s results cement a bumper few months for Dave, which saw him chat to some of the biggest names in movies and music including Colin Farrell, Jared Leto and Dermot Kennedy.

Today FM’s lunchtime Gaeilgeoir Louise Cantillon, (12:00-14:00) wins ultimate bragging rights as she saw the largest jump in listenership this time around. Louise now entertains an audience of 129,000 (+10,000 BoB), after an incredibly busy summer broadcasting live from around the country from the Galway Races to Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann as well as a cracking performance at Electric Picnic with her Cantillon’s Céili. Last month saw Louise named Music and Entertainment Presenter of the Year at the annual IMRO radio awards.

Commenting on her rise in listenership, Louise Cantillon said:

“I never take for granted having a daily platform and an audience who love the music and the craic as much as I do. The world can be a tough place for so many, so if we can bring a bit of light relief and happiness to lunchtime, we’re doing something right. Thank you to our lovely lunchtime listeners, I feel so lucky to have ye. Táim an-bhuíoch.”

Ray Foley  (14:00 – 16:30) in the afternoons now entertains an audience of 156,000 listeners. Ray also took home gold at the recent IMRO radio awards for General Music Programme of the year.

The Last Word with Matt Cooper stormed ahead in the drive time slot, increasing its audience to 184,000(+3,000 BoB and +17,000 YoY). Matt and his team have also been busy promoting a brand new Today FM exclusive podcast “Think You Know… The Presidents”. The podcast was hosted by presidential experts and friends of the show Lise Hand and Flor McCarthy as they explored the colourful history of past Irish presidents.

Commenting on his excellent performance in the latest JNLR results, Matt Cooper said:

“From all of us on The Last Word team we’re delighted to be welcoming so many new listeners to the show. We feel our variety in show content from news, sport, culture and business is continuing to appeal to new listeners and of course to our loyal ones as well.”

These results come off the back of a busy summer for Today FM, including its biggest Sound Garden stage line-up ever at Electric Picnic 2025. All Today FM prime-time presenters took to the stage across the weekend and entertained record crowds in Stradbally.

Today FM also had lots of activity for the gig of the year – Oasis Live 25. Some Might Say Today FM was wall to Wonderwall Oasis in the lead up to the gigs with lots of ticket giveaways, a bespoke station playing 24/7 Oasis – Oasis FM, billboards outside Croke Park and Shauna O’Reilly broadcasting live from the heart of the action on the day of their first gig.

Commenting on the results, Managing Editor for Today FM Nathan Murphy said:

“It’s fantastic to see The Ian Dempsey Breakfast Show leading the way as the most listened to commercial radio show in Ireland. Our increase in listenership across the schedule reflects the connection and trust we’ve built with our audience and is something the entire team can be very proud of.”
