Newstalk continues to be the station of choice for a generation of talk listeners with a weekly audience of 798,000 and 7% national market share
The latest JNLR results published today, 17th of August 2023, show the continued strong positioning of radio in Ireland with 3.3 million Irish adults tuning in every week.
Newstalk has delivered another strong performance, reaching an audience of 798,000 every week and achieving a national prime-time market share of 7%. The station retained its position in Dublin enjoying a market share of 10.4% in the capital.
The results which saw some of the station’s best known shows secure significant gains consolidate Newstalk as the station of choice for a new generation of talk listeners.
The Pat Kenny Show remains Newstalk’s most listened to programme with 179,000 people tuning in daily, an increase of 6,000 in the last 3 months. The Hard Shoulder now has an audience of 149,000 while Newstalk Breakfast with Ciara Kelly and Shane Coleman has an audience of 145,000 every morning. Moncrieff with Sean Moncrieff has achieved an all-time high of 103,000 gaining an additional 5,000 listeners in the last 3 months and continuing a period of sustained growth over the last 12 months.
Weekends on Newstalk has also had a strong performance with The Anton Savage Show proving a big hit on Saturday mornings growing audience to 122,000 listeners while Down to Business with Bobby Kerr reaches 102,000 listeners each Saturday. Off The Ball remains a destination for sports fans on Saturday and Sunday afternoon reaching 126,000 and 151,000 respectively.
