Radio listenership in Ireland continues to flourish with the latest Joint National Listenership Report (JNLR) showing that radio listenership has again grown, with close to 3.8 million people listening to the radio each week.

Today FM, Newstalk, 98FM, SPIN 1038, SPIN South West and Cork’s Red FM now have a combined weekly reach of 1.93 million listeners and 1.26 million daily listeners – a further increase on the last published results.

The stations, operated by Bauer Media Audio Ireland, also increased their share of audience listening which now stands at 24.8% of prime-time listening among adults in Ireland and rising to 36.6% of 25-44 year olds.  This is the strongest audience result since Bauer Media arrived in Ireland in 2021.

The results are a combination of strong performances across the BMAI stations.

Today FM continues its streak of audience increases, registering strong growth on all key audience measures and delivering the station’s highest audience results in more than a decade.

Today FM’s daily audience has reached 500,000 with weekly reach standing at 938,000. Prime-time market share has grown to 9.8% driven by listenership increases on all prime-time programmes including the Ian Dempsey Breakfast Show which now reaches 221,000 people (up 13,000) and Ray Foley who increased audience (up 10,000) to stand at 173,000.

Newstalk has delivered another strong performance growing its weekly audience to 798,000 and achieving a national prime-time market share of 7% and 10.4% in Dublin

The Pat Kenny Show consolidated its position as Newstalk’s most listened to programme with 179,000 people tuning in daily (up 6,000) while in the afternoons Sean Moncrieff has achieved an all-time high of 103,000 listeners.

It’s definitely a case of ‘Dublin’s Good Times’ for 98FM with the station recording audience growth on reach and market share with 180,000 listeners now tuning in each week.

SPIN 1038 remains the most listened to music station on weekly reach in Dublin with 258,000 listeners tuning in with Steve K delivering another strong performance in afternoons with an audience of 74,000 listeners (up 3,000).

A solid audience performance from SPIN South West has seen it claim the position of the biggest station in the region on weekly and daily reach with strong growth also registered in prime-time market share, now standing at 12.5%.

Red FM in Cork is the most listened to station on weekly and daily reach in the region with Neil Prendeville registering an audience increase that puts his mid-morning show at 75,000.
