THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 12th: According to the latest JNLR results released today JNLR/Ipsos 2025-4 (January to December 2025) almost 3.5million (3.45m) adults listen to radio every weekday.
Today’s results show that Bauer Media Audio Ireland (BMAI) is Ireland’s largest radio group with 2.27 million listeners each week and more than 1.5 million every day across its portfolio of national, regional and local stations including Today FM, Newstalk, 98FM, SPIN1038, SPIN South West, Cork’s Red FM, iRadio and Beat.
BMAI’s market share for all adults is 28.1% which grows to an impressive 41.6% when it comes to 20-44 year olds.
IMRO ‘National Station of the Year’ Today FM reached a market share of 9% (+0.2% BoB) and recorded a weekly reach of 941,000 (+11,000 BoB). Ireland’s most listened to commercial radio station; Today FM also now has 504,000 (+1,000 BoB) listeners tuning in every day.
The Ian Dempsey Breakfast Show remains the most listened to show on commercial radio. The award-winning Breakfast show increased its audience by 6,000 to 224,000.
Ray Foley continues to grow his afternoon audience, now at 159,000 (+3,000 BoB) while Louise Cantillon at lunchtimes on Today FM increased her listenership to 130,000 (+1,000 BoB).
Across Ireland, Newstalk reports an increase in their weekly reach to 849,000 (+17,000 BoB), while market share stands at 7.5% (-0.1% BoB). The station’s daily reach is 461,000.
Pat Kenny, who recently finished up his record-breaking mid-morning show and will shortly take up a new position on Newstalk weekend, garnered 206,000 listeners (+10,000 BoB).
Anton Savage, the new Newstalk Breakfast presenter on its revamped schedule, departed his weekend show on a positive note, with 164,000 Saturday listeners (+18,000 BoB).
The station continues to deliver strong weekend listenership. Down To Business hosted by Bobby Kerr reaches a listenership milestone, with Saturday audience at 137,000 (+12,000 BoB.) Meanwhile, Off The Ball, hosted by John Duggan shows a Saturday listenership figure of 161,000 (+11,000 BoB) and a Sunday audience of 157,000 (+2,000 BoB).
Elsewhere across the BMAI portfolio, there were notable station and programming performances.
98FM sees a growth for market share at 5.3% (+0.4% BoB) and weekly reach of 189,000. Leanne Hanafin recorded an audience of 29,000 (+3,000 BoB).
SPIN1038 demonstrates active audience growth, increasing their market share to 5.5% (+0.2% BoB). Michaela Hayes is holding across the workday at 51,000 listeners (+0 BoB). Steve K demonstrates consistency on drivetime programming, holding stready at 62,000 (+0 BoB). The station entertains a weekly reach of 249,000 listeners (-5,000 BoB).
Red FM retains its position as the most listened to station in Cork, with a market share of 19.3% (-1.2% BoB) and a weekly reach of 160,000 (-7,000 BoB). Maintaining this momentum, The Neil Prendeville Show remains the most listened to radio show in the region with 72,000 listeners (-7,000 BoB).
iRadio, broadcasting to 15 counties, delivered strong audience growth with a weekly reach of 343,000 (+11K BoB, +6K YoY), daily listenership of 193,000 (+7,000 BoB) and a market share of 8.9% (+0.1% BoB). Dave & Fionnuala continues to demonstrate growth, entertaining an audience of 88,000 (+2,000 BoB). Cooper and Oonagh also saw an increase, hitting a listenership of 80,000 (5,000+ BoB).
In the South East, Beat achieved a notable performance, with its weekly reach at a record high at 187,000 (+2,000 BoB).
In SPIN SouthWest, Eoghain Fitz remains the most listened to drivetime show in the region with an audience of 52,000 (-8,000 BoB).
