Wednesday, 6th July 2022: GoLoud, Ireland’s home of podcasts, has today announced the launch of Louise Cooney’s Open book, a GoLoud Original podcast presented by award-winning Irish blogger, digital creator and entrepreneur Louise Cooney.
This new podcast will be built around honest conversations about life and framed through the lens of a passion for reading. In this weekly series, Louise will welcome some of Ireland and the UK’s most well-known personalities to the GoLoud Studios to discuss life lessons and the escapism of reading. The podcast will be a platform for writers as well as literature lovers and casual readers to delve into their inspirations and aspirations in long form, free flowing conversation with the host.
On the first episode, released today, which is available now on the GoLoud app and all major podcast platforms. Louise Cooney is joined in the studio by author Louise O’Neill. The wide-ranging interview is insightful, thought provoking and at times introspective as it touches on the Cork writer’s newest book ‘Idol’. The book is billed as a timely, twisty new thriller that explores the duplicitous world of online influencers and celebrity lifestyle cults, with topics like consent, eating disorders, cancel culture and the authenticity of influencers also prevalent in the book.
Cooney will delve into the best sellers list, helping readers find their perfect beach read or summer break books. Louise Cooney’s Open Book will cater for avid, casual, and lapsed readers. Through these feature interviews, Cooney will explore the creative process and give an unrivalled insight into the inner workings of some Ireland and the UK’s most successful authors.
The podcast will be bookended by recurring segments like Good Books/Bad Books, a non-literature related discussion about anything and everything. Where the host and podcast producer will discuss what that we’re loving and loathing at the moment. Listener’s Digest will give the audience a chance to help shape the sound of the podcast through emails, messages, and suggestions, and in a nod to the popular book club founded by Cooney during lockdown, the podcast will feature a Book Club Check-In.
Louise Cooney’s Open Book is a GoLoud Original podcast, new episodes will be published weekly on Wednesdays.
Louise Cooney, Presenter of Louise Cooney’s Open Book said: “I’m delighted to team up with GoLoud to make this podcast, I’m excited to bring the listener honest conversations about life and the stories that shape us. The lockdown helped reignite my love of reading. I started a virtual book club which blossomed. The beautiful thing about books is how differently we can all interpret them and how they can play such a special part depending on what stage of your life you read them in. I’m ready to explore these exciting conversations with our guests and listeners.”
Darren Cleary, GoLoud Managing Editor said: “Who we are and what we read are intrinsically linked, Louise’s passion for reading is infectious and GoLoud is proud to partner with Louise to bring this podcast to market. I know that these stories rooted in life lessons and literature will engage, inform and entertain audiences and underpins what GoLoud is about, empowering creativity and producing insightful, entertaining, habit-forming digital audio and podcast content.
Kiela Brodigan, GoLoud Director said: “Louise is another exceptional talent we are excited about welcoming to the GoLoud slate. As the business continues to grow and diversify its digital audio portfolio, I have no doubt that this partnership with Louise will further extend the already significant reach and time spent GoLoud has with audiences in the Irish market.”

Louise Cooney is one of Ireland’s most recognisable digital creators. After years of documenting her New York life, Louise made the move back to Ireland and brought with her an international follower base of over 200,000 and a different style and perspective to the Irish and UK market. While back in her childhood bedroom during lockdown, Louise started an online book club over zoom for her followers. Hundreds would join every week to chat about what has given them some escape from the daily COVID cases and to chat to some of their favourite authors. That is where the idea for the “Open Book” podcast was born. Louise has recently launched her activewear brand CLOO Active and wine spritzer 67 Spritz to much excitement and anticipation from her fans. Cooney is a budding entrepreneur and businesswoman, she has always stayed true to her native Limerick roots and continues to work closely with charities like Pieta House, which is very close to her heart.
