Another strong performance from the BMAI radio stations
The latest Joint National Listenership Report (JNLR) shows that the radio listenership in Ireland has once again grown with over 3.7 million people listening to the radio on a weekly basis with growth across the all adults demographic and in 15–34-year-old listeners.
Bauer Media Audio Ireland which operates Today FM, Newstalk, 98FM, SPIN 1038, SPIN South West and Cork’s RedFM now has a combined weekly reach of 1.874 million listeners and 1.218 million daily listeners.
BMAI accounts for 24.35% of all adults prime time listening in Ireland rising to 36% of 25-44 year olds. Today’s results show strong performances across the portfolio of stations.
Today FM registered increases in Weekly Reach, 883,000 (+8,000 Book on Book) and Daily Reach 466,000 (+ 11,000 book on book). Market Share now stands at 9.3%.
The Ian Dempsey Breakfast Show breaks its own record achieving the biggest audience in the show’s history with 208,000 listeners.
Pamela Joyce on Today FM’s lunchtime increases audience by 2,000 since the last results to 136,000 listeners while The Ray Foley Show grows again to 163,000 listeners, a massive 26,000 increase since last year.
Newstalk continues to be the station of choice for a new generation of talk listeners reaching an audience of 786,000 every week and a prime-time market share of 7% nationally and 10.5% in Dublin.
The Pat Kenny Show remains Newstalk’s most listened to programme with 174,000 people tuning in daily. Newstalk Breakfast with Ciara Kelly and Shane Coleman has gained 8,000 listeners over the last year to reach 149,000 people daily while Sean Moncrieff has achieved an all-time high of 98,000 listeners.
98FM has shown that ‘Dublin’s Good Times’ continues to grow its connection with the Dublin audience. Since the last results, the station has grown in all key measures of Weekly Reach, Daily Reach and Market Share.
In Dublin, SPIN 1038 reaches a huge 259,000 listeners each week and has a prime-time market share of 8%. SPIN’s Fully Charged with Emma, Dave and Aisling have achieved the highest reach for the breakfast show in a decade with 49,000 tuning in daily.
SPIN South West has 152,000 weekly listeners and a prime-time Market Share of 11.4%.
In Cork, RedFM, the newest addition to the Bauer Media Audio Ireland portfolio increased audience on all key measures and now boasts an impressive weekly audience of 171,000.
