Newstalk continues to be the station of choice for a generation of talk listeners with
7% national market share

The latest JNLR results published today, 11th of May 2023, show more than 3.7 million Irish adults tuning in to radio weekly, the popularity of radio continues to grow with the number of listeners increasing since the last results.  

Newstalk has again delivered another strong performance, reaching an audience of 786,000 every week and achieving a national prime-time market share of 7%. The station retained its position in Dublin and enjoys a market share of 10.5% in the capital.

The results cement Newstalk’s position as the station of choice for a new generation of talk listeners. 

The Pat Kenny Show remains Newstalk’s most listened to programme with 174,000 people tuning in daily.  Newstalk Breakfast with Ciara Kelly and Shane Coleman has gained 8,000 listeners over the last year to reach 149,000 people daily while Sean Moncrieff has achieved an all-time high of 98,000 listeners.

The Hard Shoulder with Kieran Cuddihy reaches 152,000 listeners every evening while Lunchtime Live with Andrea Gilligan attracts an audience of 106,000 daily.

Weekends on Newstalk has also had a strong performance with The Anton Savage Show proving a big hit on Saturday mornings growing audience to 116,000 listeners while Down to Business with Bobby Kerr also added listeners to reach 106,000 listeners each Saturday.   Off The Ball remains a destination for sports fans on Saturday and Sunday afternoon reaching 137,000 and 146,000 respectively.
